About

From an early age my mom surrounded me with books. I was able to experience the sense of being a part of a community of readers expanding from my mom to my sisters, classmates, friends, students, fellow bloggers, and colleagues over time. I read for a range of purposes, linked to my different roles in life. There are books just waiting to be read on my shelves, Kindle, closets, desk, and boxed up in the garage. As a family, we also frequently visit the library, and I swap books with family and friends. I don't think I will ever have enough time to "catch up", but I love knowing that whenever I want to read, I have many options waiting.

As a teacher, I have taught students ranging from 4th grade - adults. I am also the mom of two girls, currently in kindergarten and 2nd grade. I have three other blogs, where I talk about reading professional books for teachers, books for adults, and YA/Middle Grades books. On this blog, I will be sharing about books for younger readers, specifically in the elementary grades. Most of my experiences with this age range of students are with my daughters and from experiences and conversations with colleagues teaching in the younger grades while working in a K-8 school.

I love considering books through my teacher and parent lens, while also catching glimpses into a child's perspective with my daughters.
